Ezi Mouth Opener, Manufactured with us in New Zealand.
This instrument is
used by the autopsy technician or embalmer to carefully open the jaws of the
deceased, when affected by rigor mortis, for thorough examination and easy
cleaning of the oral cavity.
Instructions:
It is important that
the stainless steel jaws of the instrument be inserted between the teeth, at
the side of the mouth posterior to the canine teeth.
Gently apply enough pressure to partly open
the mouth and repeat on the opposite side to open the mouth to its full extent.
NB: Insertion between
the incisor teeth should be avoided as it could result in damage or loosening
of these teeth.
If the instrument is used in cases where the
jaws are affected by extreme rigidity, for example death involving seizures,
distortion of the stainless tips may occur and require realignment.
